Could you imagine a billboard which actually helps people? That’s happening in Lima, Peru. The billboard pictured produces around 100 litres of water a day from nothing more than humidity, a basic filtration system and a little gravitational ingenuity. Why don’t sheep shrink when it rains? – If the things we make from wool shrink after getting wet, shouldn’t the wool shrink while it’s still on the sheep’s back, too? There are two main things that help the wool on a sheep’s back to not be affected by water the same way as your wool sweaters: One factor is the way the tiny fibres grow on each strand of wool. As a sheep’s hair grows out of its back, the fibres of each strand, which are scaly, point out towards the same direction. However, when wool gets woven together into a sweater, all of these strands and their fibres suddenly point into many different directions! When the wool gets …

A newborn baby gorilla at Melbourne Zoo in Australia gets a checkup at the hospital and shows suprise at the coldness of the stethoscope. Like humans, gorillas have two legs and two arms, 10 fingers and 10 toes, small ears on the side of the head, forward-looking eyes and 32 teeth. Unlike us, their arms are longer and more muscular than their legs, and their big toes look like thumbs. Their bodies are covered by thick dark hair, except on the face, chest, underarms, palms of the hands and soles of the feet. An adult male gorilla becomes a “silverback” at about age 15 when he is full grown and the hair on his back turns silvery-grey.

As firefighters fight major fires all over the world, this is one of the coolest pictures coming out of Australia! When an animal is dehydrated it WILL drink water even if they normally get it from their food. All animals/mammals drink water even if it isn’t often and seeing as this picture was from a forest fire then obviously there were no leaves for the koala to eat and is why it is drinking from the water bottle. Hey guys come and meet a genuine climate change buster. A daily, mundane, banal object, which we all seem to posses, though we rarely look at these ‘silent servants’ an object so basic yet so useful, that has the quality of serving many functions in addition to it’s original one. Now I must go and hang out the washing…have an awesome TGM weekend x
