Keeping is warm and guarding against draughts for generations

Homes are still draughty even after years and years of campaigns promoting insulation, and now with a new threat of rising fuel bills it makes sense to get all ‘crafty’. Making crafts feels good, allows for re-using & recycling old materials and is a win/win for all. These door thingies make great gifts too. Craft for kids: make a sausage-dog draught excluder. A simple step-by-step guide using just an old pair of tights and a bit of imagination http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2011/aug/16/craft-kids-make-draught-excluder

Dead trees turned into art???

Dead trees turned into art? Love it! Artist and designer Dave Rittinger has proposed a new idea for a public art piece which would see existing (perhaps existing but dead would be more practical?) trees turned into art pieces by way of turning their branches into giant colouring pencils. So far, Rittinger has only experimented with turning small tree limbs into various different man-made objects (baseball bats and toothpicks have also been tried), but it would certainly be interesting to see this proposal become a reality.
